Talks & WorkshopsThe Bigger Picture is bringing colour into the classroom and introducing a fresh outlook to subjects across the curriculum. We offer fun and informative subject-specific talks for classes and societies in Art, Classics, English, History, Art History, European Languages, General Studies and Music. We also offer more general talks for ages 11-18. Each talk focuses on a particular theme or question, using artworks to illustrate it.
All the Talks from The Bigger Picture can be adapted to your class or year group's subject interests and requirements. They typically last up to one hour and can be extended or shortened to your timetable. Every talk is accompanied by a handout for students and teachers providing the details of key ideas, facts and images. If you can't find a talk for your subject here, get in touch with the office as we are regularly updating our lists and may have further options. We also offer motivational, case study and career focussed talks by our tutors who all pursue other arts-related careers including acting, fine art, music and writing. Please contact us for further details. |

Workshops
Like Talks, Workshops from The Bigger Picture can be tailor-made to suit the requirements of your class/society and last anything from 2 hours to half a day. All The Bigger Picture workshops are led by art historians usually encouraging students to use artworks as a source and platform for cross curricular discussion and debate. Students are shown how to ‘use’ art when exploring opportunities for a science project, a history essay, a theatrical performance or an English Literature presentation. Activities typically culminate in the students presenting their ideas and/or creations in front of the whole group.
